How it Works
Getting Started with Your P-tainers
Step 1: Clean Everything
Clean your P-tainer using soap without moisturizers (Dawn Powerwash works well), or use our Cleaning Kit for the best results. Wash inner and outer surfaces, rinse thoroughly, and dry with a lint-free cloth. Make sure your fingers are dry too.
Step 2: Prepare Your Skin
Ensure you are soft and your shaft skin is clean—excess skin oil can cause slippage. Pull back any foreskin to fully expose your glans.
Step 3: Check the Sizing
The P-tainer should cover about 50% of your glans. It's better to be slightly too small than too big. If unsure, learn how to measure.
Step 4: Position The P-tainer
Position The P-tainer with the V-shaped notch facing toward the ground. Carefully align the V shape with your frenulum and gently place it against your glans.
Step 5: Roll Your Skin Up
Roll your shaft skin up the body of The P-tainer as far as you can. You may need to gently grab your skin and pull it up to get it all the way to the neck of the retainer. If you can't reach the neck, your P-tainer may be too long.
Why Is a Gripper Required?
A gripper is a silicone band that holds your skin in place on the P-tainer. Without a gripper, the P-tainer will not stay on. The gripper is what keeps everything secure during wear.
Stiff vs Soft Grippers
- Stiff Grippers (fully clear) – Highest grip, great for adding tension with weights or straps
- Soft Grippers (opaque/cloudy) – Maximum comfort for all-day wear without tension
Comfort Fit vs Snug Fit
- Comfort Fit: Same size as your P-tainer – gentler grip, great for beginners
- Snug Fit: One size smaller than your P-tainer – tighter grip for increased hold
Daily Wear
- For best results, wear 8-12 hours daily
- Take a break every 2-4 hours
- Check circulation regularly
- Reposition the gripper if needed
Underwear & Pants
- Most underwear styles work for retaining
- Boxer briefs provide good support
- Add a bulge for a natural look under clothes
Activity Level
- Safe for most daily activities
- For swimming or running, use P-tainer only (no accessories)
- Sweaty? A snug fit gripper helps reduce slippage
- Take breaks – Remove the device every 2-4 hours to check circulation
- Stop if uncomfortable – Numbness, pain, or discoloration means remove immediately
- Keep it clean – Wash your device and skin before each session
- Start slow – Let your body adjust to wearing the retainer before adding tension
